Four suspects will appear in court later this week on charges of kidnapping. They are believed to have taken a 44-year-old man hostage in Westcliff, south of Durban, last week.
Durban hostage negotiators were alerted to the situation and stepped in.

They identified the suspects and established the man was being kept at a house in Mandeni, on the province’s north coast.
Ransom of $1000 - or about R14 000 - was deposited into a local bank account by the victim's brother, in Uganda.
Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala says further assistance from the Umhlali K9 Unit and the National Intervention Unit led to the arrest of two suspects in KwaDukuza.
On further investigation, two more suspects were arrested and one of them was found in possession of a firearm believed to be used during the kidnapping.
“Their hard work yielded positive results, when the missing person was found alive,” she says.
He had suffered visible injuries, Gwala says.
