A community meeting will be held this afternoon between Chatsworth residents and law enforcement agencies to discuss threats by the local taxi association to stop the operation of all lift clubs in the area.

This after an advert was placed by the Chatsworth Minibus Association claiming to be "the legal custodian of Chatsworth".

They want staff buses and school transport off the roads saying school children must contact the association to arrange alternative transport.

Chatsworth ward councillor Brandon Pillay says they immediately took the matter up.

"When we contacted the municipality and eThekwini Transport Authority we were told that the advert in itself was illegal and they cannot do such. We have decided the meeting will take place at the Bayview community hall at 2 O' Clock", he said.

"We will bring together parents and concerned parties but not the association because we first want to meet with parents and get a mandate from them before we meet with the association during the week", Pillay said.
