Chatsworth chess champ, 6, ready to check mate
Updated | By Portia Cele
A six-year-old boy from Chatsworth is preparing to take on the country's top chess players in a national contest next year.

Azra-Noor Ally will initially face opponents in the under-eight age group of the South African Junior Chess Championships at the University of Cape Town.
The Grade 1 pupil, who was selected at the KZN chess trials - will compete in the Inter-Regional category and then the Wild Card round where an opponent will be randomly chosen.
His father, Mashuk - who introduced him to the sport a year ago - says it was to help his son centre his energies.
"A guy by the name of Nadene who was a tutor at the youth centre picked up that the child was a quick thinker. He was the one who sponsored the first chess board for the Azra.
" He said this child is good and will go far. After that he didn't want to leave the game," he said.
