Chatsworth Anti-Drug Forum calls for specialised court
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
A local anti-drug organisation says it has been advocating for many years for a dedicated drugs court to help secure more convictions.

The Chatsworth Anti-Drug Forum has been commenting after three people were arrested at a house in uMhlatuzana south of Durban where a new drug called 'Jelly Babies' was being produced.
The forum's Sam Pillay welcomed the arrests but feels too many drug dealers end up back on the streets without seeing the inside of a jail cell.

''But these people don't go to jail and the shops close. This particular case, I'm not sure whether it is the same house but I know that two or three years ago there was a major bust.
''I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same house but they found it again, it's on an ongoing basis. Guys will be arrested but will be back trading and it's really not ending. They are not touching them, convicting them or putting them to jail - locking the doors and throwing the key away,'' he said.
The suspects, aged between 27 and 39, are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court soon.
