Charges against Booysen will affect police force: expert
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
A researcher at the Institute for Security Studies' Johan Burger believes charges being once again re-instated against ex-KZN Hawks Head General Johan Booysen will affect work morale in the Police Service.

Booysen is due in the Durban High Court this morning alongside 27 members of the now disbanded Cato Manor Serious and Violent Crimes Unit which he headed.
The case was dismissed in 2014 after the same court found the decision by deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions Nomgcobo Jiba to prosecute was unlawful.
Burger says some of these police officers have no reason to continue working.
"Some of these police officers will tell you - there's no incentive for them to carry on their jobs, be efficient and effective.
"If there's anything that reeks of political connection or people in powerful positions, certainly they will be less effective and efficient,'' he said.
