Chaotic morning on wet Durban roads
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Heavy rains had paramedics working non-stop in and around Durban on Monday morning.

Strong winds and the persistent downpour unleashed treacherous driving conditions in the morning.
Garrith Jamieson, who is with ALS Paramedics, says their teams responded to a number of incidents on the M7 due to oil on the road surface, between Main Road and Bellville Bridge in Malvern.
"This is about the third to fourth accident that we are currently standing at. These are towards the Durban offramp, and towards the N2 bridge. The M19 we attended to about five collisions between the Pinetown offramp and Reservoir offramp on both sides."

He says the M19 between Durban and Pinetown is extremely dangerous and has advised motorists to be cautious on other waterlogged routes.
"North Coast Road as well, near Acutt and Queen Nandi intersection. We've seen large pools of water and multiple collisions there this morning. I advise all motorists to take it easy, allow extra travel time to reach your destination and slow down as there is a lot of oil and debris that does get lifted by the slow rain that is currently persisting throughout the day."
