Cele: Truck torchings coordinated in northern KZN
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Police Minister Bheki Cele says they believe the arson
attacks on trucks are being coordinated from a central point in northern KZN.
The minister made the remarks at a media briefing on Wednesday.
He said 12 people are believed to be the masterminds behind the torching of 21 trucks in Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KZN since Sunday.
Cele said police investigations into the attacks had found that the perpetrators sought to undermine and sabotage the state.

"It has been said in the statement that it's clear that these people are coordinated, are organised, sophisticated and are doing these things according to that instruction."
Cele said the motive for the attacks was not only about existing issues such as the hiring of foreign nationals as truck drivers.
"One is labour, but this issue of foreign-employed drivers, with this one it can tell you that it's gone beyond that. I think there are about three or four foreigners in this incident. All drivers are South African."
