Cele to tackle taxi-related violence in KZN this year

The Police Minister says the men and women in blue are turning the tide in the war against taxi-related violence.

The minister briefed the media on the SAPS Safer Festive Season Campaign report in Durban on Tuesday.
Bheki Cele says taxi-related violence is at the top of his agenda for KwaZulu-Natal this year.

There have been multiple incidents in the past two months.
Just last week, seven people including an 18-month-old baby were shot and killed, in separate attacks in the province.
Cele says some suspects have been arrested and that police are closing in on others.

"We lost towards December char of Margate and the Chair of Mandeni. I must say, we have arrested the core guys related to the killings."
"One was arrested while saying his wedding vows in Mandeni. In Port Shepstone, we arrested core guys with firearms; some of those firearms have been proved that they have been used."
