Cele to release latest crime stats on Friday
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
South Africans will get an update on the country's
crime levels on Friday when Police Minister Bheki Cele releases the latest
crime quarterly statistics.
The minister will first brief the Portfolio Committee on Police on the crimes reported between January and March this year.
The spotlight will no doubt be on murder cases.
One of the areas South Africans will be looking at are murder crimes which during his last update Police Minister Bheki Cele revealed had gone up by 8.9% between October and December.

A significant number of these took place in a domestic setup. Cele had also said while fewer rapes were reported, over 11 000 cases were opened.
KZN was once again a leading province in sexual crimes with Inanda and Umlazi police stations recording the highest number of reported rape cases in the country, respectively.
When the minister addresses the nation later on Friday it will then become apparent whether his ministry and the country combined has made any progress in the fight against these and other crimes.
