Cele: 137 AK-47 cartridges found at Nomzamo Park tavern

Police Minister Bheki Cele visited Nomzamo Park in Soweto following the deadly tavern shooting in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Cele visited the community of Nomzamo on Monday morning.
He said 135 empty AK-47 cartridges were picked up on scene together with cartridges from smaller pistols.
It’s believed that a group of five men travelling in a single vehicle that are responsible for the shooting which claimed the lives of 15 people.
The majority of the victims are from KwaZulu-Natal.
While police have not yet established the motive for the shooting, Cele assured residents the suspects will be arrested and prosecuted.
“We just believe that it’s criminality that coincidentally happens at the same time.”
The Nomzamo incident was one of three deadly tavern shootings over the weekend.
In Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, two people were shot and killed while drinking at a tavern.
In Pietermaritzburg, a shooting claimed the lives of four people and left eight others wounded.
Cele also announced that the police’s Tactical Response Team 'Amabherethe' will be deployed in Soweto on Monday.
