Five men accused of the murders of rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and Tebello Motsoane have told a Durban court that they intend to apply for bail.

They made their first appearance in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Thursday morning.
The 35-year-old Forbes and his former manager were shot outside Wish Restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road in February last year.

Seven individuals were arrested this week by police in connection with what has been described as an assassination plot targeting the rap sensation.
Two, who were arrested in eSwatini, are still in the process of being extradited to the country.
Police Minister Bheki Cele says he spoke to AKA's father, Tony Forbes, on his flight to Durban on Thursday morning:
"From Cape Town, I was in flight with the father of AKA. We spoke a little bit, you can still see that the pain is huge for the parents, but you can see that the pain is huge for the nation. So, it will be good just to see the police have done the work. We believe that they've done good work."
