Niehaus says they want Ramaphosa to resign as both president of the country and the ANC.

He says the march was organised on the back of the Phala-Phala scandal, which saw a large amount of foreign currency stolen from the president’s farm.

“There will be a march by primarily ANC members, and also members of the broader community, will participate calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to immediately step down on the basis of the very serious criminal activity that has been revealed through the Phala-Phala farmgate scandal.”

Niehaus says that marchers will also call on the whole national executive committee of the ANC to vacate their positions.

He says that this will pave the way for the task team to take control of the ANC until the its national conference in December.
