Several roads including parts of the city's nationals roads, the N1 and N2 were flooded, while informal settlements were also affected by the downpours.

A cold front that's swept through the city has brought about heavy rains, strong winds and lightning.

The SA Weather says more rain is expected today.

The City's Charlotte Powell says they will have a clearer picture soon.

"Informal settlements in low-lying areas have been affected but no emergency sheltering has been activated. Roads in Somerset West and parts of the N1 and N2 are also flooded," she said.
