Candidate list will reflect the people's choice: KZN ANC
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The KZN ANC says it's committed to ensuring the final list of candidates for the upcoming elections reflects the will of the people.
Briefing the media in Durban on the state of readiness ahead of the Local Government Elections, provincial secretary Super Zuma said while all 11 Regional Lists Conferences have been concluded there are still concerns and complaints in a few wards.
Zuma says they're currently dealing with appeals in the eThekwini and Abaqulusi regions where some members either don't understand the selection process or have raised concerns about the violation of guidelines.
"We have received more than 250 appeals thus far. We have dealt with more than 230 thus far. So there are only a few left now for us to complete the whole process.
"So we can never say we are done dealing with this process because we will end up dealing with one branch three or four times because individual members will have different complaints," he said.
In the last few months, there have been several violent protests in areas including Folweni and Isithebe over the nominations of councillor candidates.
