Calm restored in Isithebe after protests

Calm has returned to Isithebe where there have been violent protests, mainly over the appointment of an Induna who was going to be running for councillor in the upcoming local government elections.
Factories, trucks and containers were set alight during the week-long protests in the North Coast town.
Police arrested 120 people who have been charged with arson, malicious damage to property and contravening the Public Gatherings Act.

Mandeni Mayor Siphesihle Zulu says they are working on some the community's grievances.
"One of the grievances has to do with the clinic - they were saying that there is poor performance so we are working with the Department of Health.
"Secondly, the issue that is related to Councillor Magwaza. Magwaza will be relieved of his duties," he said.
