'Calls for Zuma Impeachment an attack on the ANC'
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe maintains that the recent criticism launched against President Jacob Zuma is an attack against the party rather than the president alone.

Speaking at the opening of the Northern Cape's Alliance Summit in Kimberley, Mantshe said those asking for Zuma's head are using him as a scapegoat to weaken the ANC.
He says the ANC will meet with all its stakeholders including the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation in coming days to explain the party's stance on the Constitutional Court ruling against Zuma.

Mantashe dismissed the group of civil society organisations that yesterday announced their opposition to Zuma's presidency.
He says the majority are disgruntled former party members acting in desperation.

"They are all people who are walking out of the ANC and if they are going there to plot whatever, it's expected of them.
"If you walk away out of an organisation because your ambitions are not fulfilled, you can do anything. It becomes a desperate situation," he said.
