Call for speedy recruitment of school feeding scheme monitors
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The National School Nutrition Programme has called on the KZN Department of Education to speed up its recruitment drive for new programme monitors.

The scheme says it doesn't want a repeat of last year's debacle when supplier delivery failures led to pupils across the province being left without meals.
The department last week announced the termination of 27 contracts.
The nutrition programme's Lindani Matiwane says they want to ensure the smooth rollout of meals to 540 schools which are part of the scheme.
"If the department doesn't have an alternative plan, it is going to have a negative impact, but they promised and assured that they do have a plan in place."
Matiwane says the employees who've been let go will be allowed to reapply for jobs.
"The ones who are currently working are eligible to apply, and during the course of the interview, they can go and can be reinstated.
