Call for government to 'stand with Ukraine'
Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
The Ukrainian Association of South Africa is calling on government to condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
It's also demanded Moscow end its military attack which Ukraine says has claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians - including children.
Russia's denied targeting civilian areas.
The association held a peaceful protest in solidarity with the people of Ukraine along Durban's South Beach promenade on Sunday.

When the conflict took centre stage at the UN last week, South Africa abstained from voting on a motion criticising Russia's assault.
It felt the resolution didn't create an environment conducive for diplomacy, dialogue, and mediation.
"Our main reason is to call for peace," said march organiser Vita Valkina.
"We are also calling on the world to help us to save our country from this invasion and from all of our people dying. We are also asking all of the countries to help where they can, especially in South Africa. We are calling on government to stand with Ukraine."
