A press conference on the outcomes of the deliberation was cancelled, with a statement eventually being issued on Friday evening.
In the statement, Cabinet says they were briefed on the issue by Minister Pravin Gordhan and "further announcements will be made following the conclusion of the intensive deliberations of these reports."
On Friday, Eskom announced that stage 4 load shedding would be in place on Saturday and stage 3 on Sunday.
The country will likely have stage 3 load shedding the following week if the situation does not worsen.
Eskom spokesperson, Sikonathi Mantshantsha said the power utility was experiencing constraints from its diesel suppliers for two gas turbines which may push load shedding to a higher stage if not resolved.
Ramaphosa will be leading the country's Heritage Day celebrations in Tshwane on Saturday.
