Cabinet briefing cancelled amid electricity crisis

Government is expected to issue a statement on Friday to detail the outcomes of this week’s cabinet meeting.
This after the much-anticipated media briefing, scheduled for Friday morning, was cancelled at the last minute.
Measures to deal with the current power crisis were top of the agenda at the meeting.
Power utility Eskom has been struggling to keep lights on in the past weeks, last weekend the country was placed on stage 6 load shedding.

President Cyril Ramaphosa cut short his overseas trip and rushed back home to deal with the electricity issues at Eskom.
It was confirmed that Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan submitted a new report about the state of the country's electricity grid.
Meanwhile, Eskom announced on Thursday afternoon that load shedding will continue at stage 5 until Saturday morning.
