Buthelezi affidavit dragged into battle for Zulu throne
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Zulu Royal Family has dismissed claims by the half-brother of King Misuzulu KaZwelithini ahead of the court battle for the throne.
Prince Smakade, who believes he is the rightful heir to the throne, claims the king’s legal team wants to make use of an old affidavit by the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi to strengthen his case.
It's believed Buthelezi’s affidavit relates to the court cases involving Queen Sibongile Dlamini two years ago around the authenticity of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini's will.

"As far as we know, we are due to go to court in October. We have no plans of discussing legal issues in the media as such is reserved for the court," says spokesperson to King MisuZulu, Prince Africa Zulu.
"Creating confusion at this stage will not be ideal for the crown or the Zulu nation as much as he has won all runs, as you may know hence, he is a sitting King."
"We, therefore, maintain our integrity and distance ourselves from any controversial plans going forward."
