In the morning, a passenger was killed after the car he was travelling in skidded off the road and hit a tree on Mangosuthu Highway in Umlazi.

Trauma 911 says the driver has been taken to hospital with injuries.

The KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service's Craig Botha says they've attended a number of weather-related collisions in different parts of the province...

"On the south coast region, has just completed an accident, where they have a vehicle that's overturned injuring two residents.

"We've had the north coast Empangeni area where they had a taxi accident as well as the Pietermaritzburg branches are currently busy on the accident scene with multiple injuries."

ALS Paramedics Garrith Jamieson says their teams were on the N2 and N3.

"We found that there were some bumper bashes on the N2 between Durban and Umhlanga as a result of the wet roads. People need to remember that there are a lot of road works in and around the spaghetti Junction area.

"Another spot we've attended to, a few collisions on the N3 Durban bound, before the spaghetti junction."

The wet conditions are expected to continue into Thursday.

"To ensure that your headlights are on, to reduce your speed, to reduce your following distances and to be respectful of other road users."
