Bushiri and wife Mary arrested in R102m fraud case

The leader of the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECG), Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, handed himself over to the Hawks on Tuesday.

Bushiri handed himself over to the elite crime-fighting unit on Tuesday after his wife Mary was arrested in Sandton the previous day.
They were being sought in connection with an R102 million fraud case involving an investment company called Rising Estate.

Another couple, Willah Mudolo and Zethu Mudolo, were arrested on Saturday and appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday.
The Mudolo's are entrepreneurs who specialise in start-up companies.
Their case was postponed to October 30 for formal bail application.
The Bushiris are expected to appear in court soon.
They also appeared in the high court in Pretoria last week where a separate R15 million fraud and money laundering case was postponed to 2021.
