Budget 2019: Healthcare sector gets multi-billion boost

Just under R4-billion has been set aside to boost the number of qualified doctors in our country - and to assist the health sector in general.

Finance Minister Tito Mboweni shared how the country's purse will be distributed yesterday.
"We need simple, effective interventions. We need more doctors and nurses. R2,8-billion has been reprioritised to a new human resources grant and R1-billion for medial interns.
R1-billion has been added to raise the wages of community health workers will earn R3500 per month. Finally, about R219-million is allocated to eliminate malaria in South Africa," Mboweni said.
Mboweni also said during his Budget Speech that it's important for government to attract and keep highly skilled workers to and in South Africa. He says entrepreneurs must not be restricted by regulations and complicated taxes.
