If you're going to be out and about over Easter, you've been asked to avoid peak travel times, if you can.

The N3 Toll Concession's expecting bumper to bumper traffic along the national route later this afternoon. Thania Dhoogra says it's likely to pick from 3pm and that could last until 9 this evening, with about 2 500 vehicles per hour heading towards KZN today and tomorrow.

She says measures have been put in place for this period.

"Through well-established route incident management systems, extensive plans are in place for increased visibility of law enforcement and the emergency services along the entirety of the N3 toll route.

"Roads users should be prepared for random checks focused on vehicle roadworthiness, driving under the influence as well as complying with the COVID-19 protocols."

Dhoogra says traffic returning to Gauteng on Monday is expected to peak at 3 500 vehicles per hour on the N3, between 9am and 6pm.
