Jolie has filed for divorce and is seeking custody of their six children, TMZ reported, spelling the end for one of Hollywood's highest-profile celebrity couples.

The celebrity site reported the 41-year-old filed legal documents yesterday citing irreconcilable differences with Pitt, 52, listing their date of separation as September 15.

The couple have six children, three of whom are adopted, and have been together since 2004.

Here's a video from a 2015 interview with the couple about their marriage and working together in the film "By the Sea."

A goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, Jolie is one of the world's most visible symbols in the battle against cancer, having undergone a double mastectomy and removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes to prevent an aggressive form of the disease that killed her mother, grandmother and aunt.

While Pitt is a three-time Oscar nominee for acting, he took home a golden statuette for best picture in 2014 as a producer of "12 Years A Slave."

The A-listers wed in France in August two years ago.

Her lawyer says the decision to separate was made for the health of the family and has asked that they be given privacy.

The actress had been married twice before, to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
