The vehicle crashed into a school property on Sunday night. Two children were among those killed.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened, pending an investigation by forensic experts.

The area's ward counsellor, Bheki Mvubu says they met with transport officials and the families of the victims yesterday.

"The truth is that accidents like these affect the community very badly when the lives of community members are lost it's painful for everyone. One of the victims had just recently started a new job while another victim - a mother - died with her child.

"Of course, we don't know what caused the accident but we urge all taxi owners and drivers to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy," he said.

A memorial service will be held at the Wyebank Sportsfield in KwaDabeka on Thursday.
