BP, Pick n Pay urged to reconsider plans to sell booze at petrol stations
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A network of NGOs says motorists shouldn't be allowed to fill up with fuel and buy booze at the same time.

The Southern Africa Alcohol Policy Alliance is urging petroleum giant BP and retailer Pick n Pay Express to reconsider their plans to sell liquor at some petrol stations.
Through its partnership with the supermarket chain, BP was granted a license to sell alcohol at express shops operating from fuel stations.
The alliance is considering challenging the move.
Maurice Smithers believes this would be dangerous for a country trying to reduce drunk-driving related fatalities.
"It's very likely to lead to an increase in drinking and driving, which is already a problem in the country.
"It's going to expose children to alcohol more, because children go into these petrol station shops and they are going to be confronted with alcohol."
