Boycott threats absurd: ANC KZN
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The ANC in KZN says its absurd that those supporting James Nxumalo are threatening to boycott the party's eThekwini regional conference set to start this morning.
The conference taking place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium until tomorrow, has been been plagued by problems from the time it was initially meant to be held in February this year.
eThekwini Mayor James Nxumalo and councillor Zandile Gumede are contesting the party’s provincial chairmanship.
ANC spokesperson in the province Mdumiseni Ntuli says they are more than prepared for this conference and they haven’t been informed of the planned non-attendance of those supporting Nxumalo.
"That is complete madness. We do not know why they would not be attending the conference because they are accredited to be part of the conference. Now to argue that there are irregularities that cause them not to attend the conference is totally absurd", he said.
