Paramedics say an 11-year-old boy died after he was electrocuted in Strand.
ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said paramedics found family members performing CPR on the child when they arrived at the scene on Friday.
“The boy was playing outside when a large tree fell over onto power cables, which then fell to the ground and electrocuted him,” Vermaak said.
“It is believed the tree might have been blown over in strong winds in the area.”
Paramedics continued CPR and provided life support but were unable to revive the boy.
He was declared dead.
Police are investigating.
