Bosasa paid for Mokonyane's 40th, guesthouse owner tells Zondo commission
The owner of the Victorian Guesthouse in Krugersdorp has corroborated testimony by former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi that the company paid for former minister Nomvula Mokonyane's 40th birthday party.
Frederick Coetzee handed over an invoice from 2003 to the commission of inquiry into state capture on Tuesday.
Mokonyane was the Gauteng MEC for Safety and Liaison at the time.
The invoice of more than R40 000 was made out to Agrizzi.
"Bosasa was one of my corporate clients for many years," Coetzee told the commission.
"I got a call from Mr. Agrizzi himself requesting a meeting. He came to the guesthouse himself with a colleague, he informed me that the function would be for Nomvula Mokonyane and that Bosasa would be paying for the entire event," said Coetzee.

He said 80 guests were supposed to attend the event, but the number later changed to 120.
On the day 174 guests arrived.
Coetzee said the alcohol for the party, which was delivered at the venue by Bosasa, filled up a whole garage.
The commission's chair, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, asked Coetzee if Mokonyane attended the event.
Coetzee told Zondo that he was personally introduced to her and that she was not the only politician in attendance.
Bongiwe Dube, a former Bosasa employee who was responsible for catering, also told the commission there was a delivery of meat and groceries worth R17 000 for Mokonyane.
Agrizzi testified that Bosasa often delivered groceries and alcohol to Mokonyane for ANC events.
