'Born frees' can affect change: Mandela Foundation
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Nelson Mandela Foundation believes 'born frees' or children born after 1994 have the power to change the scourge of racism in the country.
Speaking during Anti-Racism Week, the foundation says it's the responsibility of young South Africans to lead the country forward.
Spokesperson Lunga Nene says student movements should be testament to the fact that born frees do see race.
Nene says race becomes an issue because injustices are difficult to ignore.
"The more you know, the better you can affect change. That's the unique advantage that born-frees have - they have access to information and they have access to tools that will compare their current standing with the rest of the world.
"They have the world at their fingertips in terms of information. They are able to make unique solutions for themselves," she said.
