Reaction Unit South Africa is at the mosque in Ottawa’s Old Main Road.

The private security company says the device is connected to a mobile phone.

It was discovered under the moulana’s chair.

The mosque and the immediate surrounds have been evacuated. The SAPS Bomb Unit is understood to be en route.

Abbas Essop died in hospital following Thursday's attack.

Three people allegedly stormed the mosque, attacked three men and torched a library before fleeing the scene.

This is a developing story.
