Boiling KZN not experiencing heatwave - SAWS
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The SA Weather Service says despite the heat
experienced in some areas of KZN, the province isn't in the throes
of a heatwave.
Pietermaritzburg and Ixopo are set to reach a high of 35 degrees, while Richards Bay and Ulundi are going up to 34 and Durban 32.
Forecaster Ayanda Ntsele says the heat we're experiencing is pretty normal.
"For a heat wave to occur we need to experience temperatures higher than the maximum average of the hottest month for that particular area. It needs to be five degrees higher than that temperature and it needs to occur over a period of three days or more.
"So the category for a heatwave is not met for KZN."

She says we can expect more blistering hot days over the next week, with some rain expected on Monday.
