According to the South Africa Weather Service, temperatures are going to reach highs of 38.3 degrees Celsius.
In a statement released by the SAWS on Thursday morning, Riverview, Richards Bay and KwaMbonambi will sizzle with temperatures over 37 degrees Celsius.
Pietermaritzburg, Newcastle, Paddock , Margate, Ulundi and Ixopo will also feel uncomfortable weather conditions, peaking around 35 degrees Celsius.
The weather service says thunderstorms are also expected on Thursday in areas like Ladysmith, Mooi River, Kokstad, Underberg and Durban.
ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson warned residents to take care in the swelting heat and humidity.
"We would like all people to please adapt to the weather and do not over-exert themselves during the heat. Please also assist the elderly and ensure they stay hydrated. Should children be taking part in sports, please ensure enough water is available as well as sunblock.
"Animals also need to be looked after, and please ensure that they have enough water to also stay hydrated."
