Body of teenage girl recovered at northern KZN beach
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The National Sea Rescue Institute has appealed to schools to have a safety plan in place when taking children to beaches.

It's after the body of a teenager was recovered last night at a northern KZN beach.
It's believed that the girl was on a school trip when she got into difficulty and disappeared at Bay Hall beach in Richards Bay.
The institute's Craig Lambinon says when they arrived yesterday evening, they found that a teen boy had already been rescued from the water.

Lambinon says rescuers immediately conducted a search for the missing girl.
"A Transnet national port authority, port helicopter conducted an aerial search. During free dive search efforts, the body of the child was located underwater and recovered."
"The body of the child is taken into care of governing health forensic pathology services."
"Police have opened and inquest docket, it appears that the incident occurred during inland school excursion to the coast where they were attending a beach day."
