A wall collapsed on the woman's quarters during last week Monday's downpour.

Heavy machinery had to be brought in after a few days to help in the search.

Humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers has been part of the operation.

Founder Dr Imtiaz Sooliman says the rainy weather over the weekend hampered the search.

''Just about an hour ago the rescue team on the search team made the breakthrough. They found the first part of the body of the deceased person.

"They said it's quite complicated, its going to take some time to extricate the rest of the body.

"It's a very sensitive matter, but we have found the individual and we are hoping that by this evening or the latest tomorrow, they will extract the body fully so arrangements can be made for a dignified funeral. It's been very traumatic for the family members for the last weeks on this.''

He says specialists have been roped in to help retrieve the body.

''This is all very sensitive. They are going to report it to some other people who are going to come and assist in the process. So these would be the people who have the experience in these kinds of situations.

"We have to wait for the best people, to do what is best possible in the best interest of the deceased person and their family.''
