Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
The body of a newborn baby girl has been found dumped in a rubbish bin in the Durban CBD.
This is the second such incident in as many weeks.
Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson says they were called out to scene after members of the public made the discovery.
"Paramedics are currently on scene along Victoria Embankment where [the body of a] baby girl was found wrapped in plastic in a dustbin. Medics assessed her, but she had already passed away. She was declared deceased at the scene," he said.
Jamieson says the events leading up to the discovery of the little's girl's body are still unknown. He says police will be investigating further.
Last Tuesday, emergency services rushed to Queen Street after a foetus was found by a passersby.
The foetus had also been dumped in a rubbish bin.
