Body of missing woman recovered in Durban

Search and Rescue officials say they've located
the body of woman who went missing during this weekends floods in the north of
Durban.

IPSS Medical Rescue's Samatha Meyrick says they were called out to Tongaat on Monday night.
"Members of the community had located the body of a woman, who's believed to have been washed away from her home during the floods on Saturday night in Tongaat. The body has been recovered and handed over to the local police for further investigation.
“A big thank you to the local community, who always play an integral role in recovering those who have gone missing during floods.
“Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased.”

Heavy rains hit most parts of eThekwini and the north coast on Saturday night.
eThekwini Mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda assessed the damage yesterday.
He says their officials are working to restore infrastructure that has been seriously affected.
" It washed away houses and roads were affected. In Tongaat people don't have water because the pipes were severely affected but as a City, we do have a plan."
