Body of missing KZN girl, 11, found in sugarcane field

A rape and murder investigation has been launched after the body of an 11-year-old girl was found in a sugarcane field in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
SAPS spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says Gingindlovu police and Umhlali K9 unit made the discovery at the Dokodweni Reserve on Tuesday.
"The body of a naked child - an 11-year-old girl was found. The child was strangled to death. She went missing on 14 June when she went to play, but she never came back."

KZN Social Development spokesperson, Mhlabunzima Memela has described the crime as cruel.
"We are very disappointed as a department to see such incidents continuing. There are people who are heartless, who do not respect the humankind. They don't respect the rights of other people."
