Body of drowning victim found floating at Durban beach

An emergency medical service provider says its teams respond, on average, to two drowning incidents a day in KwaZulu-Natal.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst says a man was pulled from the water by bathers at Durban's Wedge Beach on Tuesday afternoon.
Herbst says he was unresponsive and wasn't breathing.
"Reports indicate that an adult male was found floating between a group of bathers. eThekwini lifeguards were notified who immediately brought the man to shore."
After about 30 minutes of resuscitation efforts, he was declared dead at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear at this stage.
Herbst has some advice for people planning on spending time at the beach these holidays.
"Always swim with a responsible adult who can swim themselves in case you need to be rescued.
"Avoid drinking on the beach or avoid drinking before swimming.
"Always swim in a protected beach where lifeguards are available. When in distress, put your hand up and scream; someone will come and assist you."
