Bluff residents at wits’ end with sewerage overflow
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
Residents
at the Bluff, south of Durban, say they're at their wits' end with sewage
overflow entering their properties.
A resident who lives on St Geran Grove says he first reported the effluent in July this year.
Since then, various teams have unsuccessfully tried to have the sewer fixed.
"Numerous jetting teams and plumbers were sent here to unblock it,” he says.
“My house is the worst because I got two sewer lines in my yard that are municipal sewers and there seems to be a significant blockage over there. They've been battling with it, about 8 teams have been here and were unsuccessful.
“I got sewerage running in a small little river in my yard. It's terrible, the smell, the flies, the mess it's creating."

eThekwini Ward 66 councillor Zoe Solomon says twelve houses were affected in one street.
“We have had nine team visits to try to alleviate this problem. It's a health risk and basically, we just have sewerage flowing freely in that area, so that's extremely dangerous.”
eThekwini Municipality has declined to comment.
