Nzimande wants ‘speedy payment’ of outstanding NSFAS allowances
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande says universities and the National Student Financial Aid Scheme must pay outstanding 2023 allowances to students.

Some 11,000 allowances remain unpaid despite the scheme committing itself to pay-up by January 15.
The scheme says the delay has been caused by universities that did not submit registration data on time.

"I called upon NSFAS, working together with the affected institutions, to ensure that they speedily resolve all these outstanding cases. Whilst this is being resolved, I urge institutions not to deny NSFAS students with outstanding payments to register for the current cycle."
