Black Mamba recovered from Westville woman's bedroom
A Durban snake catcher has warned residents to be vigilant as black mamba's will be more visible with mating season.
On Saturday, snake catcher Nick Evans was called out to a home where a Westville woman had found the slithering serpent wriggling next to her bed.
Evans says the woman, who was in a panic, said she wrapped herself in her duvet and had locked the snake in her room.
Evan says when he got to the home on Saturday, he could not find the snake at first.
“I had a look and couldn't see anything but then I noticed that the cupboard was open and I was pretty sure it was in there, as I opened the door I could just see a bit of its body on a box. It was just resting on there, then I moved some of the jerseys and I saw its head. It was quite a sight,” he said.
Evans says he’s been called to remove quite a few black mambas from people homes this season.
He’s urging residents who come into contact with mambas not to approach them.

“If you irritate them, if you go up to them and they bite you - then you are in a lot of trouble and you can very well die. But if you go to the hospital you should be fine,” he said
