The UDM approached the highest court in the land, saying they want MPs to vote in secret when they debate President Zuma's fitness to hold office in the National Assembly.

The debate has been postponed pending the outcome of the court application.

President Zuma is opposing the application.

Speaker Baleka Mbete said in a written submission to court she does not have the authority to make a decision to grant requests for a secret ballot.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane has called on supporters of opposition parties to gather at Mary Fitzgerald Square ahead of court proceedings.

"We endorse the actions of a united opposition. We are marching not only for the court deliberations, but we are marching to say South Africa deserves leadership that will take the country in the correct direction," said Maimane.
