Battle over AmaZulu throne heading to SCA
The AmaZulu throne battle is headed for the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.
The High Court in Pretoria has granted President Cyril Ramaphosa leave to appeal Judge Norman Davis's ruling in December that set aside the recognition of King Misuzulu as the Zulu nation's monarch.
Misuzulu's half-brothers, Princes Simakade and Mbonisi, challenged his accession to the throne, arguing that customs were not followed when identifying the late King Zwelithini's successor.
They asked the high court to set aside the president's recognition of Misuzulu as the AmaZulu king.

The court in Pretoria ruled in the princes' favour in December, invalidating the recognition.
It also ordered Ramaphosa to appoint a committee to determine the rightful heir to the Zulu throne.
After studying the judgment, the president applied for leave to appeal.
His application was granted on Thursday, along with King Misuzulu's.
Princes Mbonisi and Simakade can also cross-appeal.
