Ballito Matric twins beats all odds, bags 15 distinctions
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
It’s a double celebration for a set of twins in Ballito today.
Zenya and Amera Naicker have scored 15 distinctions between them in their matric results.
The 18-year-olds completed their matric at Crawford International North Coast.
Zenya, who received 8 of the distinctions, says it was challenging studying during a lockdown.
"It was adapting to online learning in our matric year was challenging for everyone."
"But to do it in your final year of school is something completely different. "It was a lot to take in and especially because we couldn't go back to school at the end and we decided to stay online as a precaution."
Her sister, Amera has encouraged other learners still awaiting their results to stay strong.
"It was extremely nerve-wracking and obviously it was going to be anxious but I think it will be better than what we hoping for, especially these times of COVID-19, we can't be so hard ourselves. This year was completely unprecedented and I don't think we can compare to past years."
The Independent Examinations Board has recorded a 98.07% matric pass rate for 2020. The results were released at midnight.
