Baby Siwaphiwe case postponed

The case involving the alleged kidnapping of Baby Siwaphiwe has been postponed until next month in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
The baby’s mother, Sibongile Mbambo and her lover, Phumlani Mbokazi are both facing charges of fraud and defeating the ends of justice.
Both Mbokazi and Mbambo appeared before magistrate Mohamed Motala in court 10, where the State proposed that the matter be adjourned to allow for further investigation.

Motala stressed that while a valid postponement will be considered, such a high profile case needs a speedy conclusion.
The defence had no objections to a postponement and it was agreed that Mbokazi and Mbambo, who are each out on R1000 bail, return to court on the 28th of July.
A frantic search was launched for baby Siwaphiwe earlier this year, after she was reported missing, following an alleged high-jacking in Durban.
Mbambo's vehicle was found abandoned in Montclair later that day.
The search continued over the weekend, and Siwaphiwe was found unharmed during a roadblock at the Marianhill toll-plaza.
