Baby Jayden died from pneumonia: KZN police
KZN police say two-week-old Jayden Khoza from Durban's Foreman Road Informal Settlement died from pneumonia.
This is according to the results of one of two post-mortems.
The police's Nqobile Gwala says the baby was not affected by teargas.
Residents marched to the Sydenham police station last week, carrying the body of the baby. His family claims the two-week-old died after inhaling teargas fired by police during protest action in the area last week.
Residents initially staged a service delivery protest.
"The post-mortem results are back and the cause of death is pneumonia not the inhalation of teargas as mentioned by community embers previously,"she said.
The results of a private post-mortem, ordered by the Khoza family, are still outstanding.
He was laid to rest at the weekend.
