Baboons that attacked 2 boys to be relocated
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Durban-based wildlife rehabilitation centre CROW and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife have been given 2 weeks to relocate a troop of baboons from a farm near Richmond.
The animals attacked 2 young boys in the area last week. Farm owner, David Aadnesgaard, says the baboons will be put down if a new home is not found. The troop has grown to about 25 in number.
He says the animal that attacked the children was immediately put down.
"Up until last week Friday we have had no attacks from baboons. However as discussed in a meeting there cannot be a possibility of this happening again," he said.
"If there is a small chance (of another attack) then it is north worth it (keeping the baboons there) because we are talking about children's lives and our lives," Aadnesgaard said.
